Section 106 review
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act requires federal agencies to consider the effects of their actions on historic properties and archaeological sites, in consultation with the State Historic Preservation Office and tribes. A data center triggers it through a federal nexus, such as a Section 404 permit. A cultural resources survey identifies sites that may need avoidance or mitigation.
